No color is used to prepare this recipe. The juice of freshly squeezed oranges are added, which naturally brings vibrant orange color to the cake. Serve and enjoy with tea.

Ingredients

Ingredients for Cake Batter

  • 1cup
    - All-purpose flour
  • 1/2cup
    - Curd
  • 1/2cup
    - Granulated sugar
  • 1/2cup
    - Orange juice
  • 1/4cup
    - Melted butter
  • 1tsp
    - Baking powder
  • 1/2tsp
    - Baking soda
  • 2tsp
    - Orange zest
  • pinch
    - cinnamon
  • pinch
    - Salt

Glazing Cake

  • 2tbsp
    - Granulated Sugar
  • 4tbsp
    - Orange Juice
  • 1tsp
    - Orange zest

Method

Preparation

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C). Grease a 6 inch cake pan.

  2. In a bowl sieve and mix the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and baking soda together.

  3. In another bowl, whisk together sugar, curd, orange zest, orange juice, melted butter, and salt until well combined.

  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, stirring until just combined. Don't overmix the batter.

  5. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan.

  6. Bake for 35-40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

  7. Allow the cake to cool before slicing and serving.

  1. Add raisins for extra flavor.

  2. Store any leftovers in an airtight container in fridge up to 1 week.
