TERMS OF SERVICE
Effective: 11 May 2026 · Replaces all previous versions.
ABOUT THESE TERMS
These Terms of Service govern your use of Chefadora, including the free tier, Chefadora Premium, Lifetime Access, private recipe import, and Chefadora AI features. Plain language is used throughout. If a section applies only to users in a specific country, it is clearly labelled.
1. About Chefadora
Chefadora is an AI-powered multicultural recipe platform operated by Chefadora Pty Ltd (ABN 35 665 254 133), a company incorporated under the laws of South Australia, Australia. Our registered address is Unit 11, 1057 South Road, Melrose Park SA 5039.
Chefadora allows you to discover, read, share, save, and import recipes from around the world. Specific limits and features are described in clause 5.

2. Accepting and Updating These Terms
By creating an account or using Chefadora, you agree to these Terms. If you are using Chefadora on behalf of a company or organisation, you confirm that you have authority to bind that entity.
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make changes, we will update the effective date at the top of these Terms and, where the changes are material, we will notify you by email and in-app notification with reasonable advance notice before they take effect. For changes that materially restrict your rights, we may require you to expressly accept the updated Terms before they apply to you.
We may change subscription pricing at any time. Where a price change affects an existing subscription on renewal, we will give you at least 30 days' advance notice before the new price applies. You may cancel your subscription before the new price takes effect if you do not wish to continue at the new price.
Changes required to comply with law, court orders, or to address security or fraud may take effect immediately. We will notify you as soon as practicable.
If you do not accept the updated Terms, you may stop using Chefadora and delete your account.
3. Age Requirements
You must be at least 13 years old to use Chefadora. By creating an account, you confirm that you meet this minimum age.
If you are a resident of a country in the European Union or European Economic Area, you must be at least 16 years old, or have verifiable consent from a parent or legal guardian, before using Chefadora.
If you are a parent or guardian allowing a minor (above the applicable minimum age) to use Chefadora, you accept these Terms on their behalf and are responsible for their use of the Service.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children below the applicable minimum age. If we discover that we have done so, we will delete that information promptly. Contact us at hello@chefadora.com if you believe a minor has registered without appropriate consent.
4. Your Account
You can browse and search recipes on Chefadora without an account. View-only access is available to everyone, including visitors without an account and users whose accounts have been closed or terminated. To use most features — including saving recipes, accessing Chefadora AI cooking assistance, importing recipes privately, and subscribing to Premium — you need a Chefadora account.
You are responsible for keeping your password confidential and for all activity on your account. Notify us immediately at hello@chefadora.com if you suspect unauthorised access.
You may only create one account. Creating duplicate accounts to circumvent limits, suspensions, or terminations is prohibited.
Chefadora Premium and Lifetime Access are for individual personal use only. You may not share login credentials, account access, or subscription benefits with any other person.
4.1 Sign-in with third-party accounts
Chefadora may allow you to register or sign in using a third-party account such as Google, Apple, or Facebook (a "Third-Party Account"). If you choose to do so, you authorise Chefadora to access and use information from your Third-Party Account that you have agreed to share, including for the purpose of populating your Chefadora profile and authenticating your sign-in. Chefadora is not responsible for the terms or policies of any Third-Party Account, and you remain responsible for complying with the terms of the Third-Party Account provider in connection with your use of that account.
4.2 Personalisation preferences
During onboarding, and at any time afterwards through Account Settings, Chefadora invites you to share information about your dietary preferences, allergies, intolerances, and dislikes ("Personalisation Preferences") so that we can tailor recipe recommendations, search results, meal plans, shopping lists, and AI assistance to you.
Providing Personalisation Preferences is optional. You may skip this step during onboarding and add or update your preferences later. You may also clear or change them at any time.
Consent for allergy and intolerance information: Allergies and intolerances are treated as health-related information under privacy laws in some jurisdictions, including the European Union, the United Kingdom, India, and Australia. By proceeding past the screen on which you provide allergy or intolerance information, you consent to Chefadora processing that information for the purpose of personalising your experience, as described in our Privacy Policy. Where the Privacy Policy describes additional permitted uses, those uses also apply.
Personalisation Preferences may be used by the Chefadora AI assistant (see clause 7) to recommend, filter, or generate recipes and meal plans for you. They are not used for advertising and are not sold to third parties.
User responsibility for accuracy: You are solely responsible for the accuracy and completeness of the Personalisation Preferences you provide. Chefadora cannot guarantee that recipe recommendations, dietary tags, or AI suggestions will be free from any specific allergen or unsuitable ingredient. Always read recipe ingredients in full before preparing food, and always verify allergen information independently — particularly for severe allergies or medical conditions. Personalisation Preferences are a personalisation aid, not a safety system.
5. Free Tier and Chefadora Premium
5.1 Free tier
The free tier of Chefadora is available at no cost and includes:

- Up to 10 Chefadora AI cooking assistant messages per month
- Up to 10 private recipe imports per month
- Standard, ad-supported experience
Free tier limits reset at 00:00 UTC on the 1st of each calendar month. The free tier serves as the way to try Premium features at lower volume before deciding whether to subscribe.
5.2 Chefadora Premium
Chefadora Premium is a paid subscription that provides:
- Recipe import without the monthly cap that applies to the free tier, subject to the prohibitions in clause 8.3 and applicable fair use limits
- Up to 500 Chefadora AI cooking assistant messages per day, subject to the Fair Use Policy in clause 7
- An ad-free experience
- Additional features as we introduce them, at our discretion
5.3 Pricing
Chefadora Premium is currently available at the following prices in Australian dollars:
- Monthly subscription: AUD $7.99 per month
- Annual subscription: AUD $49.99 per year
In the future, we may introduce region-specific pricing. Where region-specific pricing applies, prices will be displayed in your local currency at checkout before you commit to any purchase.
Prices may change. We will notify you at least 30 days before any price change takes effect for renewals on your subscription. If you do not accept the new price, you may cancel before the change applies.
5.4 Billing and auto-renewal
IMPORTANT — AUTOMATIC RENEWAL DISCLOSURE
YOUR SUBSCRIPTION RENEWS AUTOMATICALLY at the end of each billing period until you cancel. Unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the renewal date, your selected payment method will be charged the then-current subscription fee for another billing period at the same recurring interval. You can cancel at any time using the methods described in clause 5.5. We will send you a reminder before each annual renewal.
By starting a Premium subscription, you authorise Chefadora (or our payment processors) to charge your selected payment method for the applicable subscription fee at the start of each billing period.
If a payment fails, we may retry the charge over a reasonable period and may suspend your Premium access until payment is resolved.
Subscriptions purchased through the Apple App Store are billed by Apple and are governed by Apple's payment terms in addition to these Terms. Subscriptions purchased through Google Play are billed by Google and are governed by Google's payment terms in addition to these Terms. Subscriptions purchased directly through our website are processed by Stripe, Inc.
5.5 Cancellation
You can cancel your subscription at any time through the channel where you originally subscribed:
- Apple App Store: Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions → Chefadora Premium → Cancel Subscription
- Google Play: Google Play Store → Profile → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → Chefadora Premium → Cancel
- Web: Account Settings → Subscription → Cancel
Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period. You retain Premium access until then. No further charges will apply after cancellation.
5.6 Refunds
We do not provide refunds for partial subscription periods, except as required by applicable law (see clause 5.7 for users in the European Union and United Kingdom, and clause 17 for jurisdiction-specific consumer rights).
Our services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law and equivalent legislation in other jurisdictions. If our service fails to meet a consumer guarantee, you may be entitled to a remedy.
30-day satisfaction guarantee for annual Premium subscribers: If you are not satisfied with your annual Premium subscription within 30 days of your first annual charge, contact support@chefadora.com for a full refund of that annual charge. This guarantee applies once per user, on the first annual charge only.
Refunds for purchases made through the Apple App Store or Google Play are subject to Apple's and Google's respective refund policies and are processed by them, not by Chefadora.
5.7 EU/UK 14-day right of withdrawal
If you are a consumer resident in the European Union or United Kingdom, you have a statutory right to withdraw from your Premium subscription within 14 days of starting it, without giving any reason.
To exercise this right, contact us at hello@chefadora.com within 14 days of your first subscription charge with a clear statement that you are exercising your right of withdrawal.
If you expressly consent at checkout to your subscription beginning immediately and acknowledge that you will lose your right of withdrawal once the service is fully performed, your right of withdrawal may be limited under EU law (Consumer Rights Directive, Article 16(m)).
5.8 What happens to your data and access if you cancel or downgrade
If you cancel your subscription or your Premium access otherwise ends:
- Your account remains active on the free tier.
- Recipes you privately imported during your Premium period remain accessible to you in your private library.
- Recipes you publicly published remain published unless you remove them or delete your account.
- Free tier limits (10 AI messages and 10 imports per calendar month) apply to all activity going forward.
- Any accrued ad revenue will be paid according to the schedule and threshold described in clause 9.4.
If you delete your account entirely, clause 9.1.1 governs what happens to your published content. Your personal account data will be permanently deleted within 30 days, subject to legal retention requirements.
6. Lifetime Access
Lifetime Access is a one-time purchase that grants access to all Chefadora Premium features for the operational lifetime of the Chefadora platform.
What "lifetime" means: the period during which Chefadora Pty Ltd continues to operate the Chefadora platform — not the natural lifetime of the purchaser. If the platform is permanently discontinued, we will provide at least 3 months' advance notice to Lifetime Access members.
Lifetime Access includes all Premium features available at the time of purchase, including the daily AI message cap and any other usage limits set out in these Terms. Features introduced after your purchase date will be included where reasonably practicable, but Chefadora reserves the right to introduce new tiers or paid add-ons in the future.
Chefadora AI features under Lifetime Access are subject to the same Fair Use Policy as Premium subscribers (see clause 7), including the 500 messages per day cap.
6.1 Lifetime Access refunds
30-day refund window: If you are not satisfied with your Lifetime Access purchase, you may request a full refund within 30 days of your purchase date by contacting support@chefadora.com. No reason is required. After the 30-day window, Lifetime Access is non-refundable except as required by applicable consumer law (including the Australian Consumer Law and the EU Consumer Rights Directive).
Refund eligibility for Lifetime Access purchased through the Apple App Store or Google Play is subject to Apple's and Google's respective refund policies and is processed by them, not by Chefadora.
This offer may be withdrawn or repriced at any time.
7. Chefadora AI
Chefadora provides an AI cooking assistant ("Chefadora AI") that helps you with recipe questions, ingredient substitutions, recipe scaling, meal plan generation, shopping list assistance, recipe discovery, and similar cooking-related tasks. Chefadora AI is accessible from anywhere on the platform — including individual recipe pages, the omnipresent assistant in the navigation bar, and features such as meal plans and shopping lists.
7.1 What Chefadora AI can see
Chefadora AI is a single assistant accessible from anywhere on the platform — including from individual recipe pages, the omnipresent assistant accessed via the navigation bar, and from features such as meal plans and shopping lists.
Chefadora AI may use the following information about you to provide tailored assistance and recommendations:
- Your Personalisation Preferences (clause 4.2), including dietary preferences, allergies, intolerances, and dislikes
- Your saved recipes, viewed recipes, meal plans, shopping lists, and other in-app activity
- Your privately imported recipes (clause 8), so the AI can include them in personalised recommendations and respond when you reference them in queries
- Your approximate location, where you have granted location access
- The current context within the app — such as the recipe you are viewing, the meal plan you are working on, or the shopping list you are editing
Chefadora AI may retain chat history across sessions to provide continuity in conversations and recommendations. You can clear AI chat history at any time through Account Settings or by contacting hello@chefadora.com.
Privately imported recipes are not visible to other users.
7.2 Personalisation, recommendations, and recipe discovery
Chefadora AI may use the information described in clause 7.1 to:
- Recommend recipes published on Chefadora that match your preferences
- Generate meal plans drawing from Chefadora-published recipes and your privately imported recipes
- Suggest substitutions, adaptations, and shopping list additions
- Search the web on your behalf to find recipes that match a specific request, and present them to you with the option to import the recipe privately
When Chefadora AI performs a web search at your direction, the underlying web fetch is performed by Chefadora's systems, but the request is initiated by you. If you choose to import a recipe found by AI into your private library, the import is subject to the lawful-access covenant in clause 8.2 — including your confirmation that you would have lawful access to that recipe through normal means.
Recommendations, meal plans, and substitutions generated by Chefadora AI are suggestions, not professional advice. The disclaimer in clause 7.6 applies.
7.3 Third-party AI providers
Chefadora AI is powered by AI models developed by third parties, including OpenAI and Anthropic. These models are accessed through enterprise cloud infrastructure provided by Microsoft Azure (Azure OpenAI Service) and Amazon Web Services (Amazon Bedrock).
To deliver responses to your queries, your inputs (which may include the information described in clause 7.1) are temporarily processed by these providers. We use enterprise tiers of these services that contractually prohibit our providers from using your inputs or outputs to train their AI models. Inputs and outputs are processed under the data protection terms applicable to those services.
Our use of third-party AI providers, and the categories of personal data processed, are described in more detail in our Privacy Policy. If we change our AI providers in a way that materially affects how your data is processed, we will treat that as a material change under clause 2 and provide you with reasonable advance notice.
7.4 Daily message cap and Fair Use Policy
Chefadora Premium and Lifetime Access include access to Chefadora AI up to 500 messages per day. This is a global cap counted across all AI surfaces — including the recipe page assistant, the omnipresent assistant, meal plan generation, shopping list assistance, and any other AI feature. The cap exists to safeguard the service against abuse and exploitation. Free tier users are subject to the lower limits set out in clause5.1.
Within the daily cap, the Fair Use Policy below also applies. Fair use means usage consistent with normal individual cooking assistance — personal meal planning, ingredient substitutions, recipe scaling, cooking technique questions, recipe discovery, and similar uses.
The following are not permitted, regardless of whether you are below the daily cap:
- Automated or programmatic access to the AI assistant
- Using the AI assistant for bulk commercial content generation
- Sending messages at a rate no human could reasonably produce manually
- Using the AI assistant to generate content for third-party platforms or services at scale
- Reselling, sublicensing, or otherwise redistributing AI assistant outputs commercially
We reserve the right to set, adjust, and enforce additional usage thresholds to prevent abuse. If usage violates the Fair Use Policy or exceeds the daily cap, we may throttle, temporarily restrict, or suspend AI access without affecting your other Premium benefits. We will contact you before suspending your account.
7.5 Inputs, outputs, retention, and your privacy
AI inputs and outputs:Your inputs to Chefadora AI and the AI's outputs may be retained for as long as reasonably necessary to provide and improve the AI service, maintain conversation continuity (where applicable), respond to your queries within a session, and comply with legal obligations. A subset of inputs and outputs may be reviewed by human moderators for quality assurance and policy enforcement. You may request deletion of your AI chat history at any time by contacting hello@chefadora.com or through Account Settings.
Please do not share personally identifiable information beyond what is necessary for cooking assistance (such as your full legal name, address, phone number, or financial details) while using Chefadora AI. Although we take reasonable steps to protect your data, the AI assistant is designed for cooking and food-related personalisation, not for handling sensitive personal information unrelated to that purpose.
7.6 No professional advice — disclaimer for AI outputs
AI-generated recipe suggestions, cooking advice, meal plans, shopping lists, dietary recommendations, and nutritional information are provided for informational and personalisation purposes only. They are not, and must not be relied on as, a substitute for professional dietary, medical, nutritional, or healthcare advice. AI outputs may contain inaccuracies, particularly regarding allergen information, ingredient substitutions, and nutritional calculations.
If you have a medical condition, allergy, intolerance, or any health concern that may be affected by what you eat, you should consult a qualified healthcare professional before relying on Chefadora AI's suggestions. Always verify allergen and ingredient information independently before preparing food for yourself or others — particularly for severe allergies or medical conditions.
This clause applies to AI-generated outputs. Recipe tags and nutritional data are governed separately by clause 9.11.
8. Private Recipe Import
8.1 What it is
The Private Recipe Import feature allows you to import recipes from external websites into your private Chefadora library for personal use. Imported recipes are stored privately and are not visible to other users. Free tier users may import up to 10 recipes per calendar month. Premium subscribers and Lifetime Access members may import without a monthly cap, subject to clause 8.3.
8.2 Your responsibilities
By importing content from an external source, you confirm that:
- You are importing solely for your own personal, non-commercial use
- You will not publicly republish, redistribute outside Chefadora, or commercially use any imported recipe content
- You accessed the source recipe lawfully through your own access (such as your own subscription, your own purchase, content freely available to you, or content lawfully shared with you), and you did not obtain the recipe content through unauthorised means — including someone else's bypass of a paywall or login restriction, screenshots or copies shared with you in violation of the source's terms of use, or any other unlawful redistribution
- You are not bypassing any paywall, login restriction, or technical access control yourself
- You understand that imported content may be protected by copyright and that you are responsible for ensuring your use complies with applicable law
Chefadora processes recipe imports as instructed by you. We do not review, screen, or verify the lawfulness of imported content before it enters your private library. The covenants above apply equally whether you import via URL, photo, screenshot, or any other supported method.
8.3 Sharing imported recipes within Chefadora
Chefadora may provide a feature that allows you to generate a Chefadora share link for a privately imported recipe. The shared recipe is accessible only to people who sign up for, or sign in to, a Chefadora account. The shared recipe is not made publicly indexable on the open web.
By using the share feature you covenant to Chefadora that:
- You have the right to share the imported content with others, including any rights necessary under applicable copyright law
- You accessed the source recipe lawfully (as set out in clause8.2) and the source is not subject to terms of use that prohibit sharing
- You are not using the share feature to systematically redistribute paid, paywalled, or commercially licensed content to people who are not paying customers of the original source
- You are not generating share links in connection with any commercial republication, content syndication, or affiliate scheme
When a recipient accesses a shared imported recipe, they do so on the same personal-use basis as the original importer and may not further redistribute the content. The shared view will display the original source URL and a notice indicating that the recipe was imported from an external source by another Chefadora user. The importer's identity (such as username or profile) is not displayed to recipients.
Chefadora reserves the right to limit, throttle, or revoke share links at our discretion, including where usage suggests systematic public redistribution, where we receive copyright complaints under clause 8.7, or where we observe patterns inconsistent with personal sharing. Repeat misuse of the share feature is a breach of these Terms and may result in account suspension or termination.
8.4 Our role
Chefadora does not select, review, or endorse the content you import. Imports are initiated by you, individually, one recipe at a time. We do not use automated tools to scrape, crawl, or bulk-collect recipes on your behalf, and you may not use Chefadora's import feature in an automated, scripted, or bulk fashion.
We retain the source URL of each imported recipe. This is displayed alongside the imported content in your private library and is not shared publicly.
8.5 Chefadora AI processing of private imports
Chefadora AI may access your privately imported recipes when generating personalised recommendations, meal plans, or responses to your queries — for example, when you ask the AI to suggest something to cook tonight, when you ask the AI to scale, substitute, or adapt an imported recipe, or when the AI generates a meal plan that draws from your imports. Privately imported recipes are not visible to other users (other than recipients of share links you create under clause 8.3) and are not shared publicly.
8.6 Copyright
Recipe ingredients and basic instructions are generally not protectable by copyright. However, the specific written expression of a recipe, accompanying stories, headnotes, and photographs may be protected by copyright. Chefadora is not a legal adviser and cannot confirm the copyright status of any specific recipe.
You agree to indemnify Chefadora against any claims, liabilities, or expenses arising from your use of the Private Recipe Import feature, including from any sharing under clause 8.3, and from any claim that imported content infringes a third party's intellectual property rights.
8.7 Copyright complaints (rights holders)
If you are a rights holder and believe content stored in a user's private library, or shared through Chefadora's share feature, infringes your copyright, contact us at copyright@chefadora.com with the following information:
- Identification of the copyrighted work
- Identification of the allegedly infringing material and where it can be found
- Your contact information
- A statement that you have a good faith belief the use is not authorised by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law
- A statement, made under penalty of perjury where applicable, that the information is accurate and you are authorised to act on behalf of the copyright owner
- Your physical or electronic signature
On receipt of a valid notice, we will assess and, where the notice is substantively valid, remove the identified material from the user's private library and revoke any associated share links within 10 business days, and notify the affected user. We may also notify the affected user of the substance of your notice.
DMCA designated agent (United States): Legal Department, Chefadora Pty Ltd, Unit 11, 1057 South Road, Melrose Park SA 5039, Australia. Email: legal@chefadora.com. Phone: +61452539950
Counter-notices: if you believe content was removed in error, you may submit a counter-notice to copyright@chefadora.com containing the equivalent information set out above and a statement under penalty of perjury that the removal was a mistake or misidentification.
8.8 Repeat infringer policy
Chefadora maintains a policy of terminating, in appropriate circumstances, the accounts of users who are determined to be repeat infringers of copyright or other intellectual property rights. A user may be considered a repeat infringer if their content (whether published recipes or imported recipes) is the subject of multiple valid copyright takedown notices within a rolling 12-month period, or if a single instance of infringement is sufficiently serious to warrant termination.
Termination under this policy may include: (a) loss of the ability to import recipes, (b) loss of access to the share feature, (c) removal from the Creator Program, and (d) full account termination. Termination decisions are made at Chefadora's reasonable discretion. Counter-notices submitted under clause 8.7 will be considered before final termination.
9. Your Content
9.1 Content you publish
When you publish a recipe or other content on Chefadora, you retain all ownership rights including copyright. You grant Chefadora a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free, sublicensable (solely to our service providers as necessary to operate the platform) licence to host, store, reproduce, display, distribute, and translate your content on the Chefadora platform and to promote your content within Chefadora's own channels (including the Chefadora app, website, email newsletter, and Chefadora-operated social media).
This licence ends when you remove your content from Chefadora or delete your account.
9.1.1 What happens to your content if you delete your account
If you delete your account, the following applies to content you published on Chefadora:
- Your published recipes and any associated images, videos, and translations will be removed from the platform, including from the saved collections, meal plans, and shared views of other users
- Where other users have created Private Adaptations of your recipes (see clause 9.1.3) before your deletion, those Private Adaptations will remain in those users' private libraries, but attribution to you and references to your original recipe will be removed
- Comments, ratings, and similar contributions you made on other users' recipes may be retained but will be anonymised (for example, attributed to "Deleted user") to preserve the integrity of conversations
- Privately imported recipes that other users imported into their own private libraries are not affected by your account deletion — they belong to those users, not to you
- Server backups, audit logs, and copies retained for legal compliance purposes may persist for a commercially reasonable period after deletion (typically up to 30 days), and will not be displayed or distributed during that period
- Cached copies on third-party platforms outside Chefadora's control (such as search engines, social media previews, or web archives) may persist for some time after deletion. We will use reasonable efforts to request removal but cannot guarantee how quickly third parties update their caches
9.1.2 We do not pre-screen user content
All recipes and other content on Chefadora are provided by users like you, and not by Chefadora. We do not review, screen, verify, or fact-check user content before it is published, including for accuracy, allergen information, copyright status, or compliance with these Terms. We may review content after it is published, including in response to user reports or copyright complaints, but we have no obligation to do so. Reliance on user content is at your own risk.
We may use automated systems and tools — including image analysis, AI-based detection, and pattern recognition — to identify content that may violate these Terms, the Community Guidelines, or applicable law. Examples include detection of spam, malware, AI-generated visual content (see clause 9.7), copyright infringement signals, and abusive content. The use of automated detection does not constitute pre-screening or endorsement of user content, and does not impose any obligation on Chefadora to detect or remove specific content.
9.1.3 Save and edit privately (private adaptations)
Chefadora allows you to save another user's published recipe to your private library and edit it for your personal use — for example, swapping ingredients, adjusting quantities, or adding your own notes (a "Private Adaptation"). When you create a Private Adaptation:
- The Private Adaptation is yours, but the portions of the original recipe you have not modified remain the work of the original author
- Private Adaptations are private to you. They are not visible to other users, are not shared publicly, and may not be redistributed outside Chefadora
- You may not use the save-and-edit feature to systematically appropriate the work of other authors. The feature is intended for genuine personal customisation, not for creating bulk derivative copies of other users' content
- If you wish to publish a Private Adaptation as your own recipe, the published version must be substantially your own original work. Re-publishing minor edits of another author's recipe as your own breaches clause 9.2 (originality) and may also breach the original author's copyright
If the original author removes their recipe or deletes their account, your existing Private Adaptation will remain in your private library, but:
- Attribution to the original author will be removed from your Private Adaptation
- Any reference to the original recipe (including links and metadata) will be removed
- You will be notified that the original source has been removed and given the option to keep your Private Adaptation or delete it
- If the original author submits a specific copyright complaint about your Private Adaptation under clause 8.7, Chefadora will assess and may remove your Private Adaptation in accordance with that clause
Chefadora makes no representation about the copyright status of any Private Adaptation. You are responsible for ensuring that your use of any Private Adaptation complies with applicable copyright law. The originality requirements and copyright responsibilities in clauses 9.2, 9.7, and 10 apply to all content you publish, regardless of whether it began as a Private Adaptation.
9.1.4 Recipe Genie
Recipe Genie is the AI-powered tool that you use to publish recipes on Chefadora. When you provide your recipe text in the Recipe Genie input field, Recipe Genie formats and structures it into a Chefadora recipe form, which you can then review, edit, and publish. Recipe Genie is available to all account holders.
Recipe Genie uses the same third-party AI providers and infrastructure described in clause 7.3. The AI processing applies only to the recipe text you input.
Your responsibility for content published through Recipe Genie: Recipe Genie is a formatting and structuring tool. It does not verify, fact-check, or screen the content you provide for originality, copyright status, allergen accuracy, or any other property. The recipe you publish is your content, governed by clause 9.1, and remains subject to the originality requirement in clause 9.2 and all other obligations in these Terms. By submitting recipe text to Recipe Genie and proceeding to publish the resulting recipe, you confirm that the recipe is your own original work, or that you have all necessary rights and permissions to publish it on Chefadora.
Recipe Genie may produce inaccurate or incomplete output. You are responsible for reviewing the formatted recipe and making any corrections before publishing. Once you publish a recipe, you are responsible for its content regardless of whether Recipe Genie generated all or part of the formatted version.
9.2 Original content requirement
By submitting a recipe to Chefadora, you confirm that the written instructions, descriptions, headnotes, photographs, and videos are your original work, or that you have obtained all necessary permissions. Submitting content that copies another creator's original written expression, images, or videos without permission is prohibited.
9.3 Translation of your content
Chefadora may automatically translate your published recipes into the languages we support, using machine translation. Translated versions are clearly labelled as auto-translated and provide a visible link to view the recipe in its original language.
If you do not want your published recipes to be auto-translated, you can opt out by emailing hello@chefadora.com from the email address registered to your account. We will apply your opt-out to existing and future published recipes within a reasonable period.
Chefadora is not responsible for inaccuracies in machine-translated content. Users are made aware that the translated version is auto-generated and can switch to the original language at any time.
9.4 Creator Program — ad revenue sharing
Chefadora operates a Creator Program through which authors who publish original recipes on the platform may earn ad revenue from ads displayed on their recipe pages. The terms of the Creator Program form part of these Terms when you become a creator on Chefadora.
Eligibility and verification
Participation in the Creator Program is currently available either:
- By invitation from Chefadora, or
- Once your published recipes have reached 10,000 cumulative recipe views on Chefadora
Chefadora may change these eligibility requirements at any time, including by introducing new pathways, raising or lowering the views threshold, or limiting eligibility by region or category. Where we materially restrict eligibility for existing creators, we will provide reasonable advance notice in accordance with clause 2.
To participate in the Creator Program, and in some cases to use the recipe import feature, you must also:
- Hold a Chefadora account in good standing
- Publish original recipes that comply with these Terms (including clauses 9.2 and 9.7)
- Complete the verification process specified by Chefadora, which may require: (a) adding a link to your Chefadora profile in the bio of one or more of your social media accounts (such as YouTube, Instagram, or TikTok), and/or (b) providing government-issued identity documents through Chefadora's designated verification process or a third-party verification provider
- Provide accurate payout details (bank account information) and any tax information we are required to collect
The specific verification requirements applicable to you may depend on the features you wish to use (for example, recipe import, Creator Program participation) and may change over time. Chefadora reserves the right to require re-verification at any time if we have reasonable grounds to suspect inaccurate information, identity misrepresentation, or fraudulent activity.
Revenue share
Eligible creators earn 55% of the gross ad revenue generated from advertisements displayed on their published recipe pages. Revenue share is calculated only on ads served on your own recipe pages.
Ad revenue is influenced by many factors, most of which are outside Chefadora's direct control — including advertiser demand, user location, user device, content vertical, seasonality, currency exchange rates, ad-network performance, and changes to third-party advertising or analytics platforms. Chefadora does not guarantee any specific level of earnings, and earnings may vary significantly between time periods, recipes, or creators.
We reserve the right to modify the revenue share structure. We will provide at least 30 days' notice of any reduction to the revenue share percentage. You may discontinue publishing on Chefadora before the change takes effect if you do not accept the new terms.

Chefadora provides creators with anonymised, aggregated analytics about how users engage with their published recipes. This may include aggregated view counts, country-level location data, device categories, referral sources, time-on-page, save counts, search engine indexing status, and revenue earned per recipe page. Creator analytics are derived in part from third-party analytics platforms (such as Google Analytics and PostHog) and are subject to those platforms' data processing terms. Chefadora does not provide creators with information that identifies individual users.
Payouts and minimum threshold
Payouts are made by monthly bank transfer in the calendar month following any month in which your accrued earnings reach the minimum payout threshold of US$100 (or local currency equivalent). If your accrued earnings remain below US$100 at the end of a month, no payout is issued for that month and the balance rolls over to the following month. No payouts below US$100 are issued under any circumstances.
Forfeiture on account closure: If your account is closed (whether by you or by us) and your accrued earnings are below US$100 at the time of closure, those earnings are forfeited and not recoverable. There are no exceptions and no payouts below the threshold are issued under any circumstances. To avoid forfeiture, you must reach the threshold and request a payout before closing your account.
Tax responsibility
You are solely responsible for declaring and paying tax on any revenue earned through Chefadora in accordance with the laws of your jurisdiction. Where required by law, Chefadora may collect tax information from you and may withhold or report payments to relevant tax authorities.
Creator obligations
As a creator, you agree to:
- Submit only original content that complies with clauses 9.2(originality), 9.7 (visual content authenticity), and 10(prohibited conduct)
- Not engage in artificial inflation of engagement metrics, including paying for views, likes, or saves, or coordinating networks of accounts to inflate metrics
- Comply with applicable advertising disclosure laws when including affiliate links (see clause 9.5)
- Where you apply tags to your own published recipes that imply suitability for specific medical conditions, dietary regimes, or health outcomes (such as "diabetes friendly", "heart healthy", or similar), comply with applicable health and nutrition claim regulations in the jurisdictions where your recipes are made available — including but not limited to EU Regulation 1924/2006, the FSANZ Food Standards Code in Australia and New Zealand, and equivalent United States and United Kingdom rules. Misleading or unsubstantiated health claims may result in tag removal, content removal, or termination of Creator Program participation
- Notify Chefadora promptly if you discover unauthorised use of your content or your account
Termination of Creator Program participation
Chefadora may suspend or terminate your participation in the Creator Program (and may withhold or claw back any earnings attributable to the offending activity) if you:
- Plagiarise, copy, or republish content from another creator or external source without authorisation
- Submit AI-generated recipes, recipes that have not been tested and prepared by you, or recipes that breach clause 9.7 (visual content authenticity)
- Use bots, click farms, paid traffic schemes, automated browsing, or other unlawful or artificial means to generate or inflate traffic, views, or engagement on your recipes
- Manipulate engagement metrics through inauthentic accounts, coordinated activity, or incentivised engagement
- Provide false, misleading, or fraudulent information during verification, including identity documents, social media ownership, or payout details
- Engage in fraudulent activity related to ad revenue or payouts (including chargeback fraud or refund manipulation)
- Otherwise materially or repeatedly breach these Terms
Suspension or termination of Creator Program participation does not affect your underlying Chefadora account unless we also terminate that account under clause 15. Where we determine that earnings were generated in connection with conduct described above, those earnings may be forfeited or clawed back, and any associated content may be removed.
Recipe migration assistance
From time to time, Chefadora may offer free recipe import or migration services to creators joining the platform from other recipe sites. The availability and scope of this service is at Chefadora's discretion.
9.5 Affiliate links
Authors are permitted to include external affiliate links in their published recipes on Chefadora. Revenue generated from affiliate links is retained 100% by the author. Chefadora does not claim or receive any percentage of affiliate revenue.
If you include affiliate links, you are responsible for complying with all applicable advertising disclosure laws and codes, including the United States Federal Trade Commission's Endorsement Guides, the United Kingdom Advertising Standards Authority and Competition and Markets Authority guidance, and equivalent rules in your jurisdiction. You must clearly disclose the affiliate relationship to readers. Failure to comply with these disclosure obligations is a breach of these Terms and may result in removal of the relevant content or account suspension.
9.6 Content removal
You can remove your published content at any time. We may remove content that violates these Terms, the Community Guidelines, or applicable law. We will notify you of the reason for removal unless doing so would compromise a legal or security matter.
9.7 Visual content authenticity — no AI-generated images or videos
Photos and videos accompanying recipes published on Chefadora must depict the actual prepared dish, taken by the author or used with the author's explicit permission. The following are not permitted as visual content for published recipes:
- Images or videos generated by generative AI tools (including text-to-image, text-to-video, or image-to-image models)
- Images or videos materially modified or enhanced by AI tools in a way that changes how the dish appears
- Stock photography misrepresented as the author's own work
- Images or videos depicting a different dish to the one the recipe describes
Publishing AI-generated, AI-modified, or otherwise misleading visual content is a serious breach of these Terms. We may use technical means to detect AI-generated content and may require you to provide evidence of authenticity (such as original camera files, raw images, or process photos). Breach of this clause may result in:
- Immediate removal of the affected content
- Forfeiture of any ad revenue accrued in connection with the affected content
- Suspension or permanent termination of your account and Creator Program participation
- Disqualification from future Creator Program participation
Use of AI tools to generate the textual portions of a recipe (such as drafting headnotes or ingredient descriptions) is permitted, provided the recipe instructions are tested by the author and the visual content meets the authenticity requirement above.
9.8 Licence to other users
When you publish content on Chefadora, you also grant each other Chefadora user a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to access your content through the platform and to use that content as enabled by Chefadora's features (for example, viewing, saving to a personal collection, sharing within Chefadora, viewing translations, and similar in-platform actions). For clarity, this licence does not grant any rights or permissions for another user to use your content independent of the Chefadora platform, to republish your content elsewhere, or to use your content commercially.
9.9 Meal plans
Chefadora allows you to build meal plans by combining recipes published on Chefadora, recipes you have privately imported (clause 8), notes you add yourself, and (where available) recipe suggestions generated or surfaced by Chefadora AI (clause 7).
Meal plans are personal to you. The mix of content within a meal plan does not change the underlying licensing of the items included — published recipes remain governed by clause 9.1and the licence in clause 9.8, and privately imported recipes remain governed by clause 8.
Sharing meal plans through collaboration
Where Chefadora makes meal plan collaboration available, you may invite specific people to collaborate on a meal plan with you. Invited collaborators must have, or create, a Chefadora account to access the meal plan. By inviting a collaborator you agree that:
- Sharing is by invitation to specific people you reasonably know, not by public link
- Any privately imported recipes included in the meal plan are accessed by collaborators on the same personal-use basis described in clause 8.3, and may not be further redistributed by them
- You remain responsible for ensuring that the meal plan and its contents comply with these Terms
Chefadora may apply technical limits to meal plan collaboration (such as a maximum number of collaborators per meal plan) and may revoke access if a collaborator misuses the feature.
Dietary calculations and meal plan disclaimers
Where a meal plan includes nutritional totals, dietary tags, or AI-generated suggestions, those calculations and suggestions are subject to the disclaimers in clauses 7.6 (AI outputs) and 9.11(recipe tags and nutritional data). Meal plans are not a substitute for professional dietary or medical advice and should not be relied on as such.
9.10 Shopping lists
Chefadora allows you to create shopping lists, including by automatically aggregating ingredients from one or more recipes (whether published on Chefadora, privately imported, or included in a meal plan) into a consolidated list. You may also add or remove items manually.
Where Chefadora makes shopping list sharing available, you may share a shopping list with specific people you invite. Invited recipients must have, or create, a Chefadora account to access the shared list. The principles in clause 9.9 apply to shopping list sharing on the same basis.
9.11 Recipe tags and nutritional data
Chefadora generates dietary tags (such as "vegetarian", "vegan", "gluten-free", "dairy-free"), nutrient-based tags (such as "low sugar", "low sodium", "high protein"), and nutritional data (such as calorie and macronutrient values) for recipes published on Chefadora and for recipes you privately import. These are produced through automated analysis of the ingredient list and recipe text. Tags may also be applied to recipes by the creator who publishes them.
All recipe tags and nutritional data — whether generated by Chefadora's automated systems or applied by a creator — are provided for general information only. They may be incomplete, inaccurate, or misleading, and they are not a substitute for reading the full ingredient list. Tags and nutritional data are not professional dietary, medical, or nutritional advice and must not be relied on as such.
It is your responsibility to read the full ingredient list of any recipe before preparing or consuming food, particularly if you have any allergy, intolerance, dietary restriction, or medical condition. If you have a medical condition that may be affected by what you eat, you should consult a qualified healthcare professional before relying on any tag or nutritional information shown on Chefadora.
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Chefadora is not liable for any loss, harm, or adverse outcome arising from your reliance on a recipe tag or nutritional value, regardless of how that tag or value was generated.
10. Prohibited Conduct
You agree not to:
- Scrape, crawl, or use automated tools to collect data from Chefadora without our prior written consent
- Attempt to circumvent any technical protection measure, access restriction, or usage limit
- Create accounts to circumvent suspensions, terminations, or usage limits
- Upload content that is illegal, harmful, threatening, hateful, harassing, defamatory, obscene, or that infringes third-party rights
- Upload content that exploits, harms, or attempts to exploit or harm minors
- Stalk, harass, threaten, or intimidate any other user, whether through messages, comments, public content, or any other interaction on the platform
- Share false or misleading recipes or health information, including misleading allergen, dietary, or nutritional claims
- Impersonate any person or entity, or misrepresent your affiliation with a person or entity
- Use Chefadora for spam, unsolicited advertising, chain letters, or pyramid schemes
- Run contests, sweepstakes, giveaways, lotteries, or similar promotional activities through Chefadora without our prior written permission
- Manipulate engagement metrics, including by paying for or incentivising views, likes, saves, or comments
- Misuse our reporting, complaint, or dispute systems with vexatious or frivolous submissions
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to another user's account, data, or session
- Upload viruses, malware, or any code intended to interrupt, damage, or limit the functionality of the platform
- Use Chefadora to build, train, develop, or assist in the creation of any competing recipe platform, recipe management application, AI cooking assistant, or similar competing product or service
- Publish AI-generated or AI-modified images or videos as recipe content (see clause 9.7)
- Interfere with or disrupt the platform's servers, networks, or infrastructure
11. Community Guidelines
To maintain a positive, safe, and trustworthy environment, all Chefadora users must follow these Community Guidelines when interacting with the platform. Failure to comply may result in content removal, account suspension, or termination.
- Respect copyright. Only upload content you have created or have the necessary permissions to use. Do not post copyrighted material without authorisation from the rights holder.
- No offensive content. Content that promotes hate speech, discrimination, harassment, or violence towards individuals or groups based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, age, disability, sexual orientation, or any other protected characteristic is strictly prohibited.
- No adult or explicit material. Chefadora is a family-friendly platform. Do not upload or share content that contains nudity, pornography, explicit sexual content, or graphic violence.
- No spam or unwanted self-promotion. Content that is solely intended to advertise, promote, or sell products or services without contributing to the community is not allowed. This includes excessive posting of the same or similar content, unsolicited messages, and misleading titles or descriptions.
- No misleading or deceptive content. Do not share false or misleading information, including fake recipes, clickbait titles, false health claims, or misleading allergen, dietary, or nutritional information.
- Respect privacy. Do not share the personal information of others without their consent, including names, addresses, phone numbers, or email addresses.
- Maintain a positive environment. Constructive feedback and healthy discussion are welcome. Personal attacks, threats, harassment, and stalking of other users are not.
- Comply with applicable laws. All content and conduct on Chefadora must comply with applicable local, national, and international laws and regulations, including food safety, advertising disclosure, and consumer protection laws.
Chefadora reserves the right to review and remove content that violates these Community Guidelines at our sole discretion. Users who repeatedly violate these guidelines may face account suspension or termination. If you encounter content that you believe violates these guidelines, please report it to hello@chefadora.com.
12. Chefadora Intellectual Property
Chefadora, its name, logo, design, software, and all platform content created by us are protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to access and use the platform for personal, non-commercial purposes. This does not grant any right to copy, redistribute, or commercialise any part of the platform or its underlying technology.
Using Chefadora does not give you any ownership of, or rights to, any aspect of the platform, including usernames, design elements, software, or content posted by Chefadora or other users.
12.1 Feedback and suggestions
If you provide Chefadora with any feedback, suggestions, ideas, improvements, or proposals regarding the platform ("Feedback") — whether through support channels, surveys, user research, social media, or any other means — you agree that the Feedback is non-confidential and you assign to Chefadora all rights, title, and interest in such Feedback. Chefadora may use, modify, and incorporate the Feedback into the platform without any obligation to you, including without attribution or compensation. This clause does not give Chefadora any rights to your User Content (which is governed by clause 9).
13. Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability
13.1 No warranty and service availability
Chefadora is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent permitted by law, we do not guarantee that the platform will be error-free, uninterrupted, secure, or that AI-generated content will be accurate or complete. We disclaim all implied warranties to the extent permitted by law, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
We may suspend, limit, or restrict access to all or part of the platform — including individual features and Your Account — at any time and, where reasonable in the circumstances, without notice. This includes for routine or emergency maintenance, to apply security updates, to investigate suspected abuse or fraud, to comply with legal obligations, or to protect the integrity of the platform or other users. We will not be liable for any loss or inconvenience you may suffer as a result of such suspension or restriction, except as required by applicable consumer law.
13.2 Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Chefadora's total liability to you for any claim arising from these Terms or the platform will not exceed the greater of: (a) the total subscription fees you paid to Chefadora in the 12 months before the claim arose; or (b) AUD $100.
We are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of data, loss of revenue, loss of profits, loss of goodwill, or loss of anticipated savings.
This limitation does not apply where prohibited by law, including the Australian Consumer Law, the Consumer Rights Act 2015 (UK), or equivalent legislation in your jurisdiction.
13.3 Cooking safety, allergens, and dietary information
Chefadora is not responsible for accidents, injuries, or damages that occur while following recipes published or imported on the platform. Users are solely responsible for safe food preparation, kitchen practices, and use of kitchen equipment.
Recipe tags, dietary classifications, allergen information, and nutritional data on Chefadora — whether generated automatically (clause 9.11), provided by recipe authors, or surfaced by Chefadora AI (clause 7) — are intended as a personalisation aid, not as a safety system or medical advice. Always read recipe ingredients in full before preparing food, and always verify allergen information independently — particularly for severe allergies, intolerances, or medical conditions. The presence or absence of a tag does not guarantee that a recipe is or is not suitable for any particular person.
Personalisation features that filter or recommend recipes based on dietary preferences, allergies, or intolerances rely on the information you provide and on automated analysis of recipe content. They are not a substitute for personal verification of ingredients.
13.4 User-to-user interactions
Chefadora is not responsible for the actions or conduct of any user, including any interactions between users on or off the platform. We do not facilitate offline meetings or transactions between users, and we are not liable for any loss, damage, or harm arising from interactions between users, whether online or offline. Users should exercise caution and good judgement when engaging with others or relying on information provided by other users.
13.5 Consumer guarantees
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits any right or remedy you may have under consumer protection legislation in your jurisdiction that cannot be excluded by agreement, including the Australian Consumer Law, the Consumer Rights Act 2015 (UK), the EU Consumer Rights Directive, or equivalent legislation.
14. Your Indemnity
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Chefadora, its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from: (a) your use of the platform; (b) your violation of these Terms; (c) content you submit, publish, or import; (d) your use of the share feature in clause 8.3; or (e) your violation of any third-party rights, including intellectual property rights.
15. Account Suspension and Termination
You can close your account at any time through Account Settings or by contacting hello@chefadora.com.
We may suspend or terminate your account if you: materially or repeatedly breach these Terms; repeatedly violate our Community Guidelines; provide false information; engage in fraudulent or illegal activity on the platform; or if required to do so by law.
We will notify you of suspension or termination unless doing so would be prohibited by law, would compromise an investigation, or would cause harm to another user, a third party, or Chefadora.
If your account is closed or terminated, you may continue to access view-only features of Chefadora (such as browsing and searching publicly available recipes) without an account, on the same terms as any other visitor. These Terms continue to apply to such use.
If you believe a suspension or termination was made in error, contact hello@chefadora.com to appeal.
16. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution
16.1 Default — all users
These Terms are governed by the laws of South Australia, Australia. Subject to clauses 16.2 and 16.3, disputes arising under these Terms or in connection with the platform are subject to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of South Australia.
Nothing in this clause prevents you from exercising any mandatory rights you have under the consumer protection laws of your country of residence.
16.2 Users in the United States
BINDING ARBITRATION AND CLASS ACTION WAIVER — PLEASE READ
If you are located in the United States, any dispute, claim, or controversy arising from these Terms or the platform will be resolved by binding individual arbitration administered by JAMS under its Streamlined Arbitration Rules and Procedures, and not by a court.
YOU ARE WAIVING YOUR RIGHT TO PARTICIPATE IN A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT OR CLASS-WIDE ARBITRATION.
You may opt out of arbitration within 30 days of first accepting these Terms by emailing legal@chefadora.com with your name, the email address registered to your Chefadora account, and a clear statement that you opt out of arbitration. This opt-out will not affect your ability to use Chefadora.
The arbitration will be conducted in English. The arbitrator's decision will be final and binding. Judgment on the award may be entered in any court of competent jurisdiction. Either party may seek interim or injunctive relief from a court of competent jurisdiction to prevent irreparable harm pending arbitration.
To the extent permitted by law, you agree to bring any claim within one year of when it arose. This provision does not apply to any claim that cannot legally be subject to mandatory arbitration.
16.3 Users in the EU and UK
If you are a consumer resident in the European Union or United Kingdom, you retain the right to bring claims in the courts of your country of habitual residence and to invoke mandatory consumer protection rights under EU or UK law, regardless of the governing law clause in these Terms.
If you are an EU consumer and have a dispute with us that we have not been able to resolve, you may contact the consumer dispute resolution body in your country. The European Commission maintains a list of national dispute resolution bodies at https://consumer-redress.ec.europa.eu/dispute-resolution-bodies. For disputes specifically about content moderation or account decisions on our platform, you may also contact a certified out-of-court dispute settlement body under Article 21 of the Digital Services Act. The European Commission publishes the list of certified bodies at https://digital-strategy.ec.europa.eu/en/policies/dsa-out-court-dispute-settlement. We are not obligated to participate in any specific dispute resolution scheme, but will consider in good faith any complaint submitted through these channels.
16.4 Informal resolution first
Before initiating any formal dispute process, we ask that you contact us at hello@chefadora.com to describe the issue. We will try to resolve it within 30 days. Most issues can be resolved this way.
17. Jurisdiction-Specific Terms
17.1 Australia — Australian Consumer Law
