How to make Hyderabadi Spot Idli / Hyderabad street food

Prepare Spot Idli Masala Powder

  1. Step 1

    Heat a pan and dry roast all the ingredients except chili powder, asafoetida powder, and salt.

  2. Step 2

    Dry roast until golden brown and aromatic.

  3. Step 3

    Then Add Kashmiri chili powder, asafoetida powder, and salt to this. Mix for 1 minute.

  4. Step 4

    Remove from the flame and let it cool completely.

  5. Step 5

    Grind the mixture into a fine powder. Set aside.

Prepare the Masala Base

  1. Step 1

    Heat a pan and add butter and oil.

  2. Step 2

    Add onions and green chilies. Sauté until onions turn golden brown.

  3. Step 3

    Add ginger-garlic paste and sauté until the raw smell disappears.

  4. Step 4

    Add tomatoes and cook until they turn soft and mushy.

  5. Step 5

    Mix in turmeric, red chili powder, 2-3 tsp prepared spot idli masala powder, and salt. Cook for a minute.

    Add chopped coriander leaves andTurn off the flame and set aside.

    Cover and cook on medium flame for 4-5 minutes or until done.

    After that Flip and cook the other side for another 2-3 minutes.

    Remove from the flame and demould the idlis.

    Sprinkle fresh coriander leaves and a squeeze of lemon juice if desired.
