How to make Viral Dubai Baklava Chocolate Cookies
Prepare the Baklava Filling
Mix the chopped walnuts, pistachios, and almonds with sugar and cinnamon in a bowl.
Drizzle in the melted butter and honey. Stir until the mixture is evenly coated. Set aside.
Make the Cookie Dough
In a large mixing bowl, cream the butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in vanilla extract.
In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture and mix until combined.
Stir in the chocolate chips.
Shape the Cookies
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Take a scoop of cookie dough and flatten it slightly. Add a spoonful of the baklava filling into the center and fold the dough over to seal it, creating a stuffed cookie.
Place the cookies on the baking sheet, leaving space between each.
Bake
Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes or until the edges are golden brown but the center remains soft.
Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack.
Honey Syrup Glaze
While the cookies are baking, prepare the honey syrup. In a small saucepan, combine water, honey, sugar, and lemon juice.
Bring to a boil and then reduce to a simmer for 5-7 minutes until it thickens slightly. Stir in rose water (optional).
Glaze the Cookies
Once the cookies have cooled slightly, drizzle the honey syrup over them to enhance the baklava flavor.
Garnish with additional chopped pistachios for a Dubai-inspired look.
Serve
Serve warm for a gooey, flavorful bite, or store in an airtight container for up to a week.
Tips & Tricks
Ensure the butter is softened to room temperature for easier mixing.
For a more authentic baklava flavor, use high-quality honey and fresh nuts.
If you prefer a stronger rose flavor, add a few extra drops of rose water to the honey syrup.
