How to make Mewa Paag | Healthy Festive Sweet

Preparation

  1. Step 1

    Heat ghee in a pan and fry edible gum until it puffs up. Remove and set aside.

  2. Step 2

    In the same pan, toss raisins until they puff up. Remove and set aside.

  3. Step 3

    Add lotus seeds to the pan and dry roast for 2-3 minutes. Remove and set aside.

  4. Step 4

    Dry roast the mix of dry fruits (cashews, almonds, pista, walnuts) in the pan. Remove and set aside.

  5. Step 5

    Add shredded dry coconut to the pan and roast until it turns translucent. Remove and let all roasted ingredients cool down.

Grinding

  1. Step 1

    In a mixie jar, pulse the lotus seeds and edible gum 2-3 times. Set aside.

  2. Step 2

    Grind the dry fruits (except raisins) into a coarse powder. Set aside.

Making the Jaggery Syrup

  1. Step 1

    In the same pan, add jaggery and water. Boil until the jaggery melts and forms a semi-liquid extract.

Combining Ingredients

  1. Step 1

    Add the roasted ingredients (lotus seeds, edible gum, dry fruits, raisins, and dry coconut) to the jaggery syrup.

  2. Step 2

    Add cardamom powder and mix thoroughly until everything combines well. Turn off the flame.

Shaping the Sweet

    Grease a plate with ghee and pour the mixture onto it. Level the mixture evenly.

  2. Step 2

    Make cuts of your desired shape while the mixture is still warm. Let it cool and remove the shaped pieces. Mewa Paag is ready.
