How to make Steam Bread Bunny Chow with Beef Stew

Prepare the Beef Stew

  1. Heat vegetable oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add beef stew meat and brown on all sides.

  2. Add chopped onion and minced garlic to the pot. Cook until the onion is translucent.

  3. Pour in beef broth and diced tomatoes. Stir to combine.

  4. Add cubed potatoes, salt, black pepper, and paprika. Stir well.

  5. Cover the pot and let the stew simmer on low heat for about 1.5 to 2 hours, or until the beef is tender.

Prepare the Steam Bread

  1. In a large bowl, combine all-purpose flour, sugar, salt, and instant yeast.

  2. Gradually add warm water to the dry ingredients, mixing until a dough forms.

  3. Knead the dough until smooth and elastic. Cover and let it rise in a warm place until doubled in size.

  4. Once risen, shape the dough into a loaf and place it in a greased loaf pan.

  5. Steam the bread for about 45 minutes to 1 hour, or until cooked through.

Assemble the Bunny Chow

  1. Cut the steam bread into portions and hollow out the center.

  2. Fill the hollowed-out bread with the beef stew and serve immediately.
