How to make Jamaican Jerk Burger with Gorgonzola

Prepare Burger Patties

  1. Step 1

Combine ground beef, jerk seasoning, sea salt, and Moore's steak marinade. Form into four burger patties and refrigerate until ready to cook.

Make Slaw

  1. Step 1

Combine angel hair slaw mix, mayo, diced beefsteak tomato, Gorgonzola cheese, Kosher salt, and coarse pepper. Mix well and refrigerate.

Prepare Bacon

  1. Step 1

Preheat oven to 400°F. Place a small wired rack on top of a baking sheet and lay each piece of bacon flat on the rack.

  2. Step 2

Brush each piece of bacon with Brandied Peach Jam and bake for 15-18 minutes, until bacon is done.

Cook Burgers and Toast Buns

  1. Step 1

Heat butter over medium-high heat. When melted, place burgers in the pan and sear on both sides. Reduce heat to medium and cook until desired temperature. Remove burgers from the pan but leave the drippings.

  2. Step 2

Place brioche buns flat side down in the pan for about 2-3 minutes, until slightly browned. Remove from the pan.

Assemble Burgers

  1. Step 1

Place a small amount of arugula on the bottom bun, add bacon, then the burger patty, top with slaw, and finish with the top bun.

Tips & Tricks

  1. Use high-quality bacon for the best flavor. Brushing it with jam adds a sweet and glossy finish.

  2. Refrigerating the burger patties before cooking helps them hold their shape better.

  3. Toast the brioche buns in the pan with burger drippings for added flavor.

  4. Balance the Gorgonzola cheese in the slaw to avoid overpowering the dish.

FAQS

  1. Can I use a different type of cheese instead of Gorgonzola?

Yes, you can substitute Gorgonzola with blue cheese or another creamy cheese with a similar flavor profile.

  2. What is Jamaican Jerk seasoning?

Jamaican Jerk seasoning is a blend of spices including allspice, thyme, cinnamon, nutmeg, and chili peppers, giving it a spicy and aromatic flavor.

  3. Can I grill the burgers instead of pan-searing them?

Yes, grilling the burgers is a great alternative and adds a smoky flavor to the dish.

  4. What can I use if I don’t have Brandied Peach Jam?

You can use regular peach jam or any sweet fruit preserve as a substitute.

  5. How can I make this recipe gluten-free?

Use gluten-free brioche buns and ensure all other ingredients, like the jerk seasoning and steak marinade, are gluten-free.
