How to make Special Apple Cake

For the Dough

  1. Step 1

In a bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, softened butter, eggs, and sugar. Mix until you achieve a soft dough. If necessary, add a little milk to bring the dough together.

  2. Step 2

Divide the dough into two individual portions and wrap them in plastic wrap. Refrigerate while you prepare the filling.

For the Filling

  1. Step 1

Peel the apples and cut them into quarters. Remove the cores and slice the apples into very thin pieces.

  2. Step 2

Place the apple slices in a bowl and mix them with the crushed ladyfingers, sugar, and cinnamon. Add the chopped walnuts and raisins, and mix well.

To Assemble the Cake

  1. Step 1

Roll out one portion of the dough and place it in a rectangular baking pan lined with parchment paper. Brush the parchment paper with butter beforehand.

  2. Step 2

Spread the apple filling evenly over the dough.

  3. Step 3

Grate the remaining portion of dough using a grater with large holes, letting the grated pieces fall evenly over the entire surface of the cake.

To Bake

  1. Step 1

Preheat the oven to 150°C (300°F).

  2. Step 2

Bake the cake slowly for approximately 45 minutes, keeping an eye on it to ensure it doesn’t burn.

  3. Step 3

When the surface of the cake is golden brown, remove it from the oven and let it cool.

To Serve

  1. Step 1

Sprinkle the cake with powdered sugar before serving.
