Chicken steamed momos are delicious and juicy dumplings filled with minced chicken and aromatic spices, making them a popular street food in India.

Ingredients

4 Servings
(1 serving = 4-5 momos)

Dough

  • 200g
    all-purpose flour (maida)
  • 1pinch
    salt
  • water (as needed)

Filling

  • 250g
    minced chicken
  • 1piece
    onion, finely chopped
  • 2tbsp
    coriander leaves, finely chopped
  • 1tbsp
    garlic, minced
  • 1tbsp
    ginger, minced
  • 1tsp
    soy sauce
  • 1/2tsp
    black pepper powder
  • salt to taste

For Steaming

  • 1tbsp
    cooking oil

How to make Chicken Steamed Momos

Prepare the Dough

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour (maida) and a pinch of salt.

  2. Gradually add water and knead to form a smooth, soft dough.

  3. Cover and set aside for 30 minutes.

Prepare the Filling

  1. In another bowl, mix minced chicken, finely chopped onion, coriander leaves, minced garlic, minced ginger, soy sauce, black pepper powder, and salt to taste.

  2. Mix well to form the momo filling.

Shape the Momos

  1. Divide the dough into small equal portions and roll each portion into a thin, round disc of about 3 inches in diameter.

  2. Place a spoonful of the chicken filling in the center of each disc.

  3. Fold and pleat the edges to seal the momos, ensuring there are no gaps for the filling to escape.

Steam the Momos

  1. Grease a steamer basket with oil and arrange the momos, ensuring they do not touch each other.

  2. Steam the momos for 20-25 minutes or until the dough becomes translucent and the chicken is cooked through.

Serve

  1. Serve hot with spicy tomato chutney or any dipping sauce of your choice.

Tips & Tricks

  1. Ensure the dough is soft and smooth for easier rolling and shaping.

  2. Do not overfill the momos to prevent them from bursting during steaming.
