How to make Milk Torrijas

  1. Step 1

In a saucepan, heat the milk with half of the sugar, the lemon peel, and a cinnamon stick, stirring with a spoon to dissolve everything. Before it comes to a boil, remove it from the heat and let it rest for 10 minutes to allow the flavors to blend.

  2. Step 2

Pour the milk mixture into a deep dish and soak the slices of bread in it for about 10–12 seconds. Remove the slices and set them aside on a plate.

  3. Step 3

Heat the oil in a frying pan to fry the bread slices.

  4. Step 4

While the oil is heating, beat the eggs. Dip the soaked bread slices into the beaten eggs, ensuring they are well-coated, and then fry them in the hot oil.

  5. Step 5

Once the slices are golden brown on both sides, remove them and place them on paper towels to absorb any excess oil.
