How to make Smothered Turkey Wings

Preparation

  1. Step 1

Clean your turkey wings and pat them completely dry with paper towels. If wings are whole, split them at the joints.

  2. Step 2

Add a tbsp of cooking oil and fully coat each section. Season your wings with paprika, garlic powder, black pepper, and salt.

  3. Step 3

After wings are seasoned, add flour to the wings. Make sure they are fully coated.

Cooking

  1. Step 1

In a pan, brown off your turkey wings. Ensure the pan is deep/wide enough to braise.

  2. Step 2

Once turkey wings are browned, remove them from the pan.

  3. Step 3

In the same pan, add onions, bell peppers, and garlic. Sweat out aromatics until wilted, about 5-7 minutes.

  4. Step 4

Add in sherry and allow the alcohol to cook off.

  5. Step 5

Return turkey wings back to the pan. Add in butter and enough stock or water to cover only half of the turkey wings.

  6. Step 6

Bring to a boil. Add bay leaves. Season with salt and pepper.

  7. Step 7

Add in fresh chopped oregano, fresh chopped sage, and fresh chopped parsley. Cover and bring to a low simmer for 1 hour.

  8. Step 8

Serve over a bed of rice.
