How to make Panna Cotta

  1. Step 1

In a saucepan, combine the milk, cream, and sugar. Heat gently over medium heat.

  2. Step 2

Split the vanilla pod, scrape out the seeds, and add both the seeds and the pod to the milk mixture to infuse the flavor.

  3. Step 3

Once small bubbles form and the mixture is heated (but not boiling), remove it from the heat. Allow it to cool for a couple of minutes.

  4. Step 4

In the meantime, soak the gelatin sheets in cold water until they become soft.

  5. Step 5

Squeeze out any excess water from the gelatin and add it to the warm mixture. Stir well until completely dissolved.

  6. Step 6

Strain the mixture to remove the vanilla pod and any undissolved gelatin remnants.

  7. Step 7

Pour the mixture into individual molds or a large mold.

  8. Step 8

Refrigerate for 4 to 5 hours, or until set.

  9. Step 9

To serve, unmold the panna cotta and plate it. Top with red berry jam if desired, and garnish with fresh mango slices and mint leaves.
