Ingredients
- 1stick unsalted butter
- 1cuppacked dark brown sugar
- 1tspkosher salt
How to make Perfect Homemade Toffee
Preparation
Line a sheet pan with either a Silpat or parchment paper.
Cooking
Melt the butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat.
Add the sugar and salt and clip on your thermometer.
Cook, stirring constantly, till the mixture reaches a temperature of 305 degrees (hard crack stage).
Setting
Immediately pour the toffee into the center of your prepared baking pan.
Spread evenly with the back of a spoon or an angled spatula.
Let set for 30 minutes.
Storage
Break the toffee with your hands and use or store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 weeks, or in the freezer for up to 3 months.
Tips & Tricks
Ensure to use a candy thermometer to achieve the correct temperature for the toffee.
Breaking the toffee by hand gives it a rustic appearance.
