A rich and moist red velvet cake with a tangy cream cheese frosting, perfect for any celebration.

  • 1 1/2cups
  • 2piece
    large eggs
  • 1/4cup
  • 2 1/2tbsp
    unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 1/2tbsp
    red food coloring
  • 2tsp
    vanilla extract
  • 1tbsp
    white vinegar
  • 2 1/2cups
    all-purpose flour
  • 1tsp
    baking soda
  • 1tsp
  • 1cup

Cream Cheese Frosting

  • 8oz
    cream cheese, softened
  • 2cups
    powdered sugar
  • 1tsp
    vanilla extract
  • 2tbsp
    lemon juice (optional)

How to make Yummy Delicious Naija Red Velvet Cake


  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C).

  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine sugar, eggs, oil, cocoa powder, red food coloring, and vanilla extract.

  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.

  4. Add dry ingredients to wet ingredients, alternating with buttermilk, beginning and ending with dry ingredients.

  5. Pour batter into two 8-inch cake pans and bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

  6. Let cool completely before frosting with cream cheese frosting.

Cream Cheese Frosting

  1. Beat cream cheese until smooth.

  2. Gradually add powdered sugar, beating until smooth and creamy.

  3. Beat in vanilla extract and lemon juice (if using).

  4. Use to frost cooled cake.
