Wet Ingredients

  • 1
    ripe mashed banana
  • 1/2cup
    plant-based milk
  • 1/4cup
    maple syrup (can substitute for any sweetener of choice)
  • 2
    small chopped apples (or 1 large)

Dry Ingredients

  • 1cup
    rolled oats
  • 1cup
    oat flour
  • 1tsp
    baking powder
  • 1tsp
    cinnamon
  • 2tbsp
    ground flaxseed (or 1 egg)
  • 1/4tsp
    salt
  • 1/4tsp
    nutmeg

How to make Apple, Cinnamon and Nutmeg Squares

  1. Preheat oven to 180C. Grease a 9x9” baking dish.

  2. Blend all wet ingredients (except apples) in a food processor until smooth (or mash banana and mix in with other wet ingredients).

  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the dry ingredients.

  4. Gently mix the dry ingredients into the wet using a spatula. Avoid over mixing as this might make your final product too dry.

  5. Carefully fold in the chopped apples.

  6. Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and top with a handful of apple pieces.

  7. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until cooked throughout and golden brown.
