A flavorful condiment made by infusing oil with garlic and dried chili peppers, commonly used in Asian cuisines to add a spicy, aromatic kick to dishes.

Ingredients

16 Servings
(1 serving = 1 tbsp)
  • 1cup
    vegetable oil
  • 5clove
    garlic
  • 3tbsp
    dried chili flakes
  • 1piece
    fresh ginger (optional)
  • 1piece
    green onion (optional)

How to make Garlic Chili Oil

  1. In a small saucepan, heat the oil over medium heat.

  2. Once the oil is warm, add the sliced garlic. Cook gently, stirring often, until the garlic turns golden brown. Be careful not to burn it.

  3. Remove the saucepan from heat and immediately stir in the chili flakes. The residual heat will infuse the oil with flavor.

  4. Let the mixture cool completely. Strain it into a clean jar, discarding the solids if desired, or leave them in for extra flavor. Store in a cool, dark place.

Tips & Tricks

  1. Adjust the amount of chili flakes to your taste preference.

  2. For added flavor, include slices of fresh ginger or green onions.
