A Filipino dish made of ground pork and eggs, cooked into a savory omelet.
Ingredients
- 1/2kgground pork (lean)
- 3piecemedium-sized raw eggs (beaten)
- 1piecemedium-sized onion (minced)
- 5clovegarlic (minced)
- 1piecemedium-sized potato (diced, soaked in water)
- 1piecemedium-sized carrot (minced)
- 1dashsalt to taste
- 1/4tspground black pepper
- 1/2cupcornstarch
- 3tbspcooking oil
How to make Tortang Giniling (Ground Pork Omelet)
Heat pan and pour in 2 tablespoons of cooking oil.
Sauté onion and garlic.
Add the ground pork and cook for 8 to 10 minutes.
Add ground black pepper and salt to taste.
Turn off the heat and tilt the pan to one side to separate oil from the cooked ground pork. Remove oil.
Transfer cooked ground pork to a large bowl. Let it cool.
Add in beaten eggs and cornstarch in portions. Stir the mixture until the desired consistency is achieved.
Heat a clean non-stick pan and add the remaining cooking oil.
Scoop 1 and 1/2 tablespoons of the egg and pork mixture. Flatten the mixture to shape like patties.
Cook each side for 3 minutes or until the eggs are cooked.
Repeat the procedure with the remaining mixture.
Tips & Tricks
Ensure the ground pork is well-cooked and cooled before mixing with the eggs.
Use a non-stick pan to prevent the omelet from sticking.
