How to make Sweet Chili Sauce
Combine Ingredients
In a small saucepan over medium-low heat, add the caster sugar, vinegar, minced and sliced garlic, chili flakes, chili powder, and soy sauce. Stir until the sugar dissolves completely.
Simmer and Thicken
Let the mixture simmer gently for about 5-8 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld and the sauce to thicken slightly. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.
Add Cornstarch Mixture
Slowly pour in the cornstarch mixture, stirring constantly to avoid lumps. Continue to simmer for another 5 minutes, or until the sauce reaches your desired thickness.
Cool and Store
Remove from heat and let the sauce cool. Once cooled, transfer to a clean, airtight jar and store in the refrigerator. It will keep for up to 2 weeks.
Tips & Tricks
Adjust the amount of chili flakes to suit your taste preference for spiciness.
Ensure the cornstarch is fully dissolved in cold water before adding to the sauce to prevent lumps.
