2 Servings
(1 serving = 1 bowl)
  • 1lb
    pasta (penne, fettuccine, or spaghetti)
  • 2tbsp
    butter
  • 2tbsp
    all-purpose flour
  • 2cups
    milk
  • 1/2tsp
    salt
  • 1/4tsp
    black pepper
  • 1/4tsp
    nutmeg
  • 1cup
    grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
  • 1bundle
your favorite vegetables (e.g., broccoli, mushrooms, bell peppers)

How to make Creamy White Sauce Pasta

  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the pasta and cook according to package directions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

  2. In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Whisk in the flour and cook for 1-2 minutes, or until it becomes fragrant.

  3. Gradually whisk in the milk, stirring constantly to prevent lumps. Bring the sauce to a simmer and cook for 2-3 minutes, or until thickened.

  4. Stir in the salt, pepper, and nutmeg.

  5. Add the cooked pasta to the white sauce and toss to coat.

  6. Stir in your favorite cooked vegetables.

  7. Top with grated Parmesan cheese (if desired) and serve immediately.

Tips & Tricks

  1. For a creamier sauce, use heavy cream instead of milk.

  2. Add a pinch of red pepper flakes for a little heat.

  3. For a richer flavor, add a splash of white wine to the sauce.
