Swazi Recipes

Swazi cuisine from Eswatini (formerly Swaziland) is a traditional Southern African culinary tradition centered on maize and the pastoral culture of the Swazi people. Emasi emabele (sour porridge with fermented milk) and sishwala (thick maize porridge) served with sifuso (relish) form the dietary foundation. Umncweba (dried meat similar to biltong) and slow-cooked stews showcase the importance of cattle in Swazi culture. The annual Incwala and Umhlanga ceremonies feature specific traditional foods, while wild fruits like marula are used to produce the celebrated Swazi marula beer and jam.
