Moldavian Recipes
Moldavian cuisine from northeastern Romania (distinct from the Republic of Moldova) preserves some of the country's most traditional and richly flavored cooking. The rolling hills produce exceptional wines, while the cuisine features elaborate soups (ciorbă), slow-cooked stews, and exceptional baking traditions. Signature dishes include plăcinte (stuffed flatbreads), tochitură moldovenească (pork and polenta), and alivenci (cornmeal and cheese cake). The region's Easter and Christmas culinary traditions are among Romania's most elaborate.
