Greek Cypriot Recipes
Greek Cypriot cuisine is the dominant culinary tradition of southern Cyprus, blending Greek cooking with Levantine, British colonial, and indigenous island influences. The mezze tradition here is exceptionally elaborate, featuring dozens of small dishes from tahini and taramosalata to halloumi, loukaniko, and fresh seafood. Signature dishes include souvla, afelia (pork braised in red wine with coriander seeds), trachanas soup, and loukoumades. Commandaria, possibly the world's oldest named wine, is still produced in the Troodos mountain villages.
