Costa Rican Recipes

Costa Rican cuisine, known as comida típica, is characterized by wholesome, mildly seasoned preparations centered on rice, beans, and fresh produce. Gallo pinto (mixed rice and black beans) is the national dish, eaten at breakfast with eggs, tortillas, and natilla (sour cream). Casados, the typical lunch plate, includes rice, beans, salad, plantains, and a protein. Olla de carne (beef and vegetable stew), tamales, and arroz con pollo are beloved comfort foods.
