Arctic Recipes

Arctic Canadian cuisine is practiced primarily by Inuit communities in Nunavut, the Northwest Territories, and northern regions of other provinces. Country food—caribou, Arctic char, muskox, seal, and whale—remains vital to nutrition and cultural identity. Dried fish, fermented meats, and muktuk are traditional preparations. The extreme climate means most plant-based food is imported, but cloudberries, crowberries, and kelp supplement traditional diets during brief summers.
