Angolan Recipes

Angolan cuisine is a rich fusion of indigenous Bantu cooking traditions and centuries of Portuguese colonial influence, creating one of Africa's most distinctive culinary identities. Muamba de galinha (palm oil chicken stew) is the national dish, while funge (cassava flour porridge), calulu (dried fish and vegetable stew), and feijão de óleo de palma (palm oil beans) are everyday staples. Portuguese influence shows in the widespread use of garlic, onions, and bay leaves, as well as pastéis (pastries) and grilled seafood along the Luanda coast. Palm oil, cassava, okra, and dried fish form the essential Angolan flavor base.
