How to make White Chocolate Flan

  1. Step 1

Place the liter of milk in a saucepan and heat over low heat until it boils.

  2. Step 2

Remove from heat and add the white chocolate, previously cut into small pieces. Stir thoroughly to prevent it from sticking to the bottom of the saucepan. Set aside.

  3. Step 3

In a bowl, beat the egg yolks with the sugar until you achieve a frothy mixture. Then add the milk with the melted chocolate, beating well until you get a homogeneous mixture.

  4. Step 4

Coat the bottom and sides of the mold you’ll be using with liquid caramel.

  5. Step 5

Carefully pour the flan mixture into the mold.

  6. Step 6

Cook the flan in a water bath (bain-marie) in a preheated oven at 170°C (340°F) for about 45 minutes to 1 hour, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

  7. Step 7

Remove from the oven and the water bath, and let it cool completely before refrigerating for at least 4 hours.

  4. How do I know when the flan is done?

The flan is done when a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

  5. Can I skip the liquid caramel?

The liquid caramel adds flavor and helps with unmolding, but you can skip it if you prefer a simpler presentation.
