A savory and tangy beef dish marinated in soy sauce and calamansi, then pan-fried and simmered to perfection.

Ingredients

(1 serving = 1 portion)
  • 500g
    beef sirloin, thinly sliced
  • 1tbsp
    baking soda
  • 4tbsp
    soy sauce
  • 4piece
    calamansi
  • 1tsp
    ground black pepper
  • 3clove
    garlic, minced
  • 3piece
    onion, sliced into rings
  • 4tbsp
    cooking oil
  • 250g
    water
  • 1pinch
    salt or patis

How to make Beef Steak

Marinating the Beef

  1. Marinate beef in soy sauce, calamansi, baking soda, and ground black pepper for at least 1 hour. For best results, marinate overnight.

Cooking the Beef

  1. Drain the marinade from the beef and set it aside.

  2. Pan-fry the beef for 1 minute per side. Remove from the pan and set aside.

  3. Sauté garlic and onions until the onion softens.

  4. Pour the remaining marinade and water into the pan. Bring to a boil.

  5. Add the beef. Cover the pan and simmer until the meat is tender. Add water as needed.

  6. Season with ground black pepper and salt as needed. Top with pan-fried onions.

Tips & Tricks

  1. For best results, marinate the beef overnight.

  2. Add water as needed to keep the beef tender and prevent it from drying out.
