In a digital age where food meets storytelling, a few creators stand out with their unique voices. Success Nwaokoro, widely known online as SBtreats, is one of those food influencers. Born and raised by a chef mom in Nigeria, Success is on the path to becoming one of the country's most promising culinary content creators. Her journey is a testament to passion, perseverance, and purpose.
Success’s love for cooking began early. Raised in a home where her mother was a chef, Success had always been inclined to the art of cooking. She would often help her mother in the kitchen, spending quality time with her. When she turned 13, Success decided to try cooking something on her own. She recalls just taking some ingredients and cooking something random. However, her dish came out nice. Her mother really liked what Success had cooked.
“I told her, I got this from you, Mom”, she recalls. That was the moment Success realised —this is her thing. She started cooking often when she was in high school. They frequently had food and nutrition practicals, and Success often stood out as the best candidate. As she grew up and went to university, away from home, Success started cooking more. Cooking became less of a task and more of a calling. “It just felt natural. I knew I wanted to do more with it.”
The story starts in 2020, when Success was still in school. She had always been really fond of cooking. When the lockdown was announced and everyone was restricted to their homes, Success started creating food content and putting it out there.

As she gained some followers, people from nearby places expressed their desire to get her food delivered. Seeing the enthusiastic support, Success became a food vendor. She would cook the food, document the process and deliver the food once it was ready.
In 2023, as she continued to post while running her food business, the realisation hit her. She was good at this thing called content. Her hunch was confirmed, as more and more people had approached her over the years only to tell her how good they thought she was.
As the compliments rolled in, Success decided to focus more on the content and become a full-time food influencer. She looked up to two chefs from Lebanon for inspiration. One of these chefs inspired Success to start doing charity work alongside cooking. Success was moved by the thought of giving back to society. As she embarked on this journey, she began getting sponsors.
Success is known for her unique style of content. Naturally, we asked her about the story behind her style of content. Success told us how she wasn't stroked about the idea of setting up tripods to create content. It just felt too regular, too simple, too uninspiring to her. She wanted people to watch, engage and be glued to her page. This feeling inspired her to do something different. She decided to put her art into her content. She started adding animations, comics, and graphic storytelling to her food videos. She began with two things in mind— people loved watching these videos, and she loved doing it this way.
Success told us about her first dish, a sandwich. She used roasted plantains instead of burger buns and stuffed them with beef and veggies. Although it looked like a Western sandwich, it tasted like something from Nigerian cuisine. This international-looking, local-tasting sandwich was her first culinary creation.

However, when asked about a comfort recipe that she just loves to cook, Success quickly responded with Pasta. “Pasta is my favourite thing to make. I love making pasta. Be it any kind of pasta,” she says with a laugh. Her favourite pasta dish is the native pasta—a Nigerian version using palm oil, local vegetables like pumpkin leaves, and fish. “It’s our own style of pasta. It’s so flavorful—you have to try it.”
For all the glamour of food content, there’s grit behind the camera. “What people see in a one-minute video probably took me six to seven hours,” she reveals. She told us how sometimes a single shot takes hours to capture. Overall, the recreating and editing part of her job is what she finds the most challenging. She advised that sometimes you create something, and at the end of the day, it's not really good. Put it out there anyway, and then you start again to create something new. Creating recipes for a living is not an easy path, so you have to be determined to stay on your goal no matter what.
We asked her how she feels about being one of the top rising creators of Nigeria.
“I never saw it coming,” she replied. Success told us that she feels overwhelmed and excited at the same time.

Success Nwaokoro, the face behind SB Treats, is redefining food content creation in Nigeria with her unique visual storytelling.
She expressed her gratitude for this opportunity, acknowledging all the challenges she had to go through to get here. Back in 2023, she had to go through a lot of mental trouble and stress. She recalls picking herself up again and pushing herself to keep going. Once she started again, she started getting the visibility she aspired to have. “It's just like a dream come true.”
“Be consistent”. Success advises emerging creators to maintain consistency in their work, no matter what, as it helps a lot. People like to see you today, tomorrow, and the day after tomorrow. Sometimes they might not be convinced of your skill at first. However, when they keep seeing you, their minds might change. When it comes to creation, procrastination kills. She advises being consistent with what you're doing. If you know you will be putting out two or three videos per week, stick to that.
The second thing she emphasised was being determined and passionate. Success strongly believes that when you have the passion to do something, determination will follow.
“I always tell people to focus. If you know this is your passion, focus on it, right? Do what you know you want to do. It's your passion. Do it. Trust me. Give yourself a maximum of two years. You might see yourself at the top. So, but then for you to get to the top, you have to be consistent. That's where consistency comes in. So the first is your passion, the second is your determination, and the third is your consistency.”
Success recently held her first class on food content creation and growing your page, with more workshops to come. She will cover topics like how to create recipes, how to start creating content, ways to grow your page, how to attract your audience, how to make your audience hooked to your page, and stuff like that. Charity is still going to be on her priority list for now. She revealed that her long-term goal is to own a restaurant someday.
We hope to see the day soon when Success’s restaurant will manifest itself into reality. Until then, we love the creative content she puts up on her account. Success Nwaokoro’s inspiring story is one of grit and determination. We had a lovely time chatting with this sunshine of a human. And before we wrap this up, we would love Success to know that with every post and every dish, she continues to serve more than meals—she’s serving inspiration.
