Chicken Marinade

  • 1/2tbsp
    Paprika powder
  • 1/2tsp
    Turmeric powder
  • 1tsp
    Salt
  • 2 1/2tbsp
    Lemon juice
  • 1tbsp
    Ginger garlic paste
  • 750g
    Chicken

Spiced Yogurt

  • 1cup
    Yogurt
  • 1/2tbsp
    Red chilli powder
  • 1tbsp
    Coriander powder
  • 1/2tbsp
    Chaat masala
  • 1tsp
    Black pepper powder
  • 1/2tsp
    Turmeric powder
  • 1tbsp
    Cumin seeds roasted & crushed
  • 1tsp
    Garam masala powder

To Cook Chicken

  • 3tbsp
    Cooking oil
  • 1 1/2tbsp
    Garlic chopped
  • 1 1/2tbsp
    Ginger chopped
  • 2piece
    Green chilli chopped
  • 2tbsp
    Mint leaves chopped
  • 2tbsp
    Fresh coriander chopped

For Spiced Rice

  • 1/4cup
    Cooking oil
  • 1piece
    Onion chopped
  • 1/2tbsp
    Garlic chopped
  • 1tbsp
    Ginger chopped
  • 2piece
    Green chillies chopped
  • 1tsp
    Salt
  • 2tbsp
    Fresh coriander chopped
  • 1 1/2tbsp
    Mint leaves chopped
  • 500g
    Rice soaked & boiled with salt until 3/4th done

How to make Chatpata Chicken with Spiced Rice

Marinate Chicken

  1. Combine paprika, turmeric, salt, lemon juice, and ginger garlic paste to make a paste.

  2. Add chicken to the marinade and keep it aside for 30 minutes.

Prepare Spiced Yogurt

  1. Add garam masala, chaat masala, black pepper, cumin seeds, coriander powder, red chilli powder, and turmeric to the yogurt.

  2. Whisk well to combine.

Cook Chicken

  1. Heat oil and add ginger, garlic, and green chilli. Mix well.

  2. Add marinated chicken and cook on low flame for 10 minutes.

  3. Increase the flame and cook until the water dries up.

  4. Pour 3 tbsp of spiced yogurt, 2 tbsp mint leaves, 2 tbsp coriander leaves, and remaining chopped green chilli. Cover and cook on low flame for 5 minutes.

  5. Turn chicken pieces, pour another 3 tbsp of spiced yogurt, 2 tbsp mint leaves, and 2 tbsp coriander leaves. Cover and cook again on low flame for 5 minutes. Keep aside.

Prepare Spiced Rice

  1. Heat oil and add onion. Fry until golden brown.

  2. Add ginger, garlic, and green chilli. Mix well for a minute.

  3. Add spiced yogurt, mix well, and cook for 2 minutes.

  4. Add salt, mix well, and add coriander leaves and mint leaves. Mix again.

  5. Add boiled rice, mix well, and let it steam for 10 minutes.
