How to make Delightful Homemade Buns

  1. In a clean bowl, pour the flour, baking powder, salt, sugar, powdered milk, and nutmeg.

  2. Mix together properly.

  3. Add in the butter and rub together properly with your hands until there are no more large chunks of butter in it.

  4. Break the egg in a separate bowl, add your flavor or essence, and whisk properly.

  5. Make a well in the center of the dry ingredients and pour in the egg mixture.

  6. Add a little water and mix. Keep adding more water until you achieve a drop batter consistency.

  7. Fry the batter in medium temperature oil.

  8. The buns will start expanding after a while. Flip the buns once the other side is golden brown.

  9. Once the buns are completely cooked, remove them and transfer to a plate or basket lined with absorbent paper.

  10. Serve hot or allow to cool slightly, but they are best served warm.

Tips & Tricks

  1. Ensure the oil is at medium temperature to avoid burning the buns and also so that the buns can expand

  2. Do not overcrowd the frying pan to allow even cooking.

  3. You should add more sugar if you prefer really sweet things.

  4. You can also use cold water to mix the buns, it makes them crunchier.

  5. The egg is totally optional.
