FAQS

  1. How do I make Nyee dessert step by step?

To make Nyee, start by boiling water and dissolving sugar to create the syrup. For the filling, mix grounded peanuts, sugar, and honey, then divide into small balls. For the dough, combine glutinous rice flour with pandan juice and hot water, knead lightly, and divide into portions. Flatten each dough piece, place a peanut ball inside, and wrap it up. Boil the filled balls until they float, then serve them in the syrup.

  2. Is Nyee dessert suitable for gluten-free diets?

Nyee is not suitable for gluten-free diets as it is made with glutinous rice flour, which contains gluten. However, you can experiment with gluten-free alternatives like tapioca flour, but the texture and flavor may vary.

  3. What can I use as a substitute for pandan juice in Nyee?

If you can't find pandan juice, you can substitute it with a few drops of pandan extract or use a combination of coconut milk and a few drops of green food coloring for a similar flavor and color. Keep in mind that the taste may differ slightly.

  4. How should I store leftover Nyee dessert?

To store leftover Nyee, place it in an airtight container and refrigerate. It can last for up to 3 days. When ready to eat, you can reheat it gently in a steamer or microwave to restore its texture.

  5. What are some good pairings for serving Nyee dessert?

Nyee pairs well with a cup of warm ginger tea or coconut milk for a delightful contrast. You can also serve it alongside fresh fruits like mango or a scoop of vanilla ice cream for a refreshing twist.
