FAQS
What is the best way to store homemade Nan Khatai with Almonds?
To store your homemade Nan Khatai, let them cool completely, then place them in an airtight container. They can be kept at room temperature for up to a week. For longer storage, consider freezing them; just make sure to separate layers with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
Can I make Nan Khatai without ghee or substitute it with another fat?
Yes, you can substitute ghee with unsalted butter or coconut oil for a different flavor. However, keep in mind that using butter may alter the texture slightly, making the cookies a bit softer.
Is this Nan Khatai recipe suitable for gluten-free diets?
This traditional Nan Khatai recipe contains all-purpose flour, which is not gluten-free. To make a gluten-free version, you can substitute the all-purpose flour with a gluten-free flour blend, but the texture may vary slightly.
What are some good pairing suggestions for serving Nan Khatai?
Nan Khatai pairs wonderfully with a cup of chai or coffee. You can also serve it alongside a selection of dried fruits or nuts for a delightful snack platter.
How can I adjust the sweetness in my Nan Khatai recipe?
If you prefer less sweetness, you can reduce the amount of icing sugar by 1/4 cup. Alternatively, you could use a sugar substitute like stevia, but be sure to check the conversion ratio for the best results.
